What is the difference between Mainboard and SME IPO?
Mainboard IPOs are for large, established companies with a minimum post-issue capital of ₹10 Cr, listed on the main exchanges (BSE/NSE). SME IPOs are for small and medium enterprises, listed on SME platforms with a minimum application size typically over ₹1 Lakh.
How is IPO allotment calculated?
For Retail investors, if the issue is oversubscribed, allotment happens via a computerized draw (lottery). For NIIs and QIBs, allotment is generally done on a proportionate basis depending on the oversubscription level.
What is ASBA and how does it work?
ASBA (Application Supported by Blocked Amount) is an application mechanism where your bank account blocks the application money. The funds are debited only if you receive an allotment.
What is GMP (Grey Market Premium)?
GMP is the premium amount at which IPO shares are traded in the unofficial (grey) market before they are actually listed on the stock exchanges. It acts as a strong indicator of market demand and the potential listing price of the IPO.
How long does the IPO process take?
The typical timeline for a modern IPO is T+3. This means that if an IPO closes for subscription on Monday (T), the shares will be listed and begin trading on the stock exchange by Thursday (T+3).
Can I modify or cancel my IPO application?
Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) can modify or cancel their IPO application at any time while the IPO subscription window is open. Once the IPO closes, modifications or cancellations are not allowed.
